2023 - What Did We Learn

I hope you have noticed changes to the graphics and presentation of this newsletter to better convey my value proposition to you. My goal when writing a newsletter is to make it interesting and challenging to leaders of all organizations.

I believe my most valuable contribution to you and the work you are doing is to share what I have learned and experienced as a company founder and CEO, management consultant, scientist, and board of director’s chair.

My board of directors works with tech companies in the B-to-B space, and my speaking and writing have been my primary focus for several years. My new book, Create the Future will be out late spring. As we get closer to its launch date, you will receive short thought pieces from to the book. I hope they will entice you to buy the book!

2023 was the year AI broke into our vocabulary, and Silicon Valley Bank’s failure gave us vivid lessons on poor governance and leadership. My newsletters examined these and other leadership issues from a CEO and board point of view.

Here are links to my 2023 leadership newsletters. I believe the lessons learned are completely relevant today.

My published articles relating to the leadership issues raised by the presidents of Harvard and Penn got to you in 2024.

Thank you for your comments and perspectives. They enrich my views on these topics, for those of you who write asking that I give a special thanks to the unnamed staff person who actually writes my newsletter, a special THANK YOU. I post your comment on my desk for a few days.

Mark Newhall in Denver sent me this note and he gave us permission to post it on the website.
“I’d say your newsletter is the very best that I receive, and I receive a lot of them!”

Sunset

As a sailor, sunsets over the water are a special joy. I captured this sunset over both the water and the city. You are looking over the water towards Boston. One of the skyscrapers cuts the sun’s reflection on the water in half.
