Your Board of Directors – A Value Accelerator
Most of my “day job” work is serving on the board of directors of technology companies in the B to B space. Using my experience as a company founder, CEO, management consultant, and board member, I believe I help the companies on whose boards I sit, and their leaders, be more successful.
I write and speak widely on how to get value from your board and turn it into a value accelerator for your company. Members of the Private Director’s Association (PDA) from across the US elected me to serve on PDA’s national board of directors. PDA is the professional association of directors of private companies.

I recently moderated a program hosted by MDG Boston on boards of directors. MDG Boston is a professional association of med tech company leaders. Most small and mid-sized companies do not have an active and engaged board of directors. They may have a board, but it is not engaged with the company’s governance and leadership. If company leaders and owners want their company to be more successful, they will recruit and work with a board that includes a breadth of experiences and perspectives.
I opened the MDG program by explaining why the board is valuable to the company and its leadership. I then engaged with a panel that included two experienced board members, a CEO who talked about how the board made her more successful, and a PE investor who said the quality of a company’s board of directors is a major determinant of the company’s value to an investor.

California on My Mind
The videos of fires in Southern California are frightening and sad. I have walked the hills and beaches now covered with burned rubble and memories in ashes.
I am sharing with you the strength and colors I captured on the top of a palm tree. This is the image of Southern California I want to hold in my mind.
