Why I Wrote Create the Future – the Podcast - By Rick Williams

Andreas Pettersson recently interviewed me for his podcast Adapt or Die. We talked about the core concepts in my “best-selling book,” Create the Future, and why I wrote it. The discussion is easy to follow and compelling so I am sharing it with you.

Create the Future is your guidebook for making difficult decisions. My talk with Andreas gives you an overview of why making tough decisions is hard and how to get it right. Of course, I hope you will get the book and keep it on your desk as a reference when you face tough choices.

Start by listening to a 40-second summary of the core idea – you are responsible for creating the future by the decisions you make today.

If you want to hear more of our discussion, the complete Apple Podcast link is HERE. I am not sending you links to all my podcast appearances. This one is worth checking out.

My Birthday and Halloween

You or a friend probably has a birthday on Christmas, January 1, July 4th, or Thanksgiving. If so, you know the birthday party dilemma. How can your mom or you, as an adult, invite friends to celebrate your birthday when everyone is already celebrating a special holiday? My birthday is near Halloween – October 31 in the US.

Every year, the weekend close to Oct. 31 is filled with parties for kids (and adults) with costumes and scary themes. To get around this conflict, I have hosted costume parties and not said anything about my birthday. One year, I had a “The Devil Made Me Do It” party where everyone had to come in the costume of someone or something that they would never be or do except that “the devil made me do it!” Of course, I went as the Devil.

Great fun, and I knew it was my birthday party even if many at the party didn’t.
